THE STUFF NOBODY EXPLAINS
RED OR GREEN?
RED OR GREEN?
This is probably the question we get asked more than any other.
What we use most: Red
✓ Less likely to spook game
✓ Comfortable for long nights behind the light
✓Our first choice when hunting
Green absolutely works.
✓ Appears brighter to the human eye
✓ Easier to pick up eyes at distance
✓ Popular when maximum visibility is the goal
We've tried them all. We keep coming back to red.
WHAT IS IR? (850 VS 940)
What is IR?
Infrared (IR) light is invisible to the naked eye and is used with digital night vision optics.
If you're using a traditional scope, skip this section. IR only works with digital night vision.
IR 850 vs IR 940
850nm IR:
✓ Shines farther
✓ Provides better image quality
✓ Our recommendation
940nm IR:
✓ Less visible glow
✓ Roughly half the distance of 850nm
We recommened 850nm for the best image quality, distance, and performance.
THE
BIGGEST
MISTAKE
Many hunters scan on full power.
We do the opposite.
✓ Start dim
✓ Let the animal get comforable
✓ increase brightness to identify your target.
SEEING EYES
VS
IDENTIFYING
Knowing whether those eyes belong to a hog, coyote, bobcat, or deer is a different story.
The distance you can identify an animal depends on:
✓ Light color
✓ Candela
✓ Light head size
✓ Weather conditions
✓ Your optic
Green light will generally appear brighter to the human eye and can help you see farther.
Red light is often easier on animals and is the color we reach for most in South Texas.
The goal isn't just seeing eyes.
The goal is confidently identifying your target before taking a shot.
